The US news media has been going bonkers lately over a Montreal restaurant with an all-bacon menu.

We understand their excitement — it swells our clogged hearts every time a bacon establishment opens, too — but please, settle down Americans. Bacon is a national treasure, but Bar Brutus, set to open soon, is hardly the first restaurant in Canada to feature cured pork in every dish. Vancouver’s got Edible Canada, which ran an all-bacon menu a few summers back, while Toronto’s Bacon Nation food trucks keep Hogtown satiated with salted hog.

That said, Bar Brutus may be Canada’s first permanent, fixed-location all-bacon restaurant, and that’s worth celebrating – perhaps with a bacon martini?
