Right when we thought we had recovered from the altered rendition of ‘O Canada’ performed by ‘lone wolf’ Remigio Pereira and The Tenors in last year’s MLB All-Star Game, it had to go and happen again. Come on guys, can’t we try to keep it together when all the Americans are watching?

At least this year the flub wasn’t intentional. Canadian singer Jocelyn Alice was doing just fine until she was ‘overwhelmed by excitement’ and let out a little giggle after singing ‘God keep our land.’ Apparently she had spotted fellow Canadian and Reds player Joey Votto on the big screen and got excited to see someone from the homeland.

Clearly she loves her country and the giggle was just a mistake, but that didn’t stop the internet from going wild. Those who obviously weren’t watching the train wreck of last year called it the worst rendition of the anthem they had ever heard.

Others don’t forget nor forgive the sins of the past. The Tenors weren’t getting away so easy.

The best thing to come out of the whole fiasco was the reaction of Blue Jays’ Justin Smoak on the field. He’s not Canadian, but his reaction was priceless.

It turns out though, that while the internet was having a field day, Smoak hadn’t even noticed the flub and his reaction wasn’t to the giggle at all. We should have expected that actually, that glare is just Resting Smoak Face. Sorry though, the truth doesn’t exempt you from meme status, buddy.

As for the anthem: there’s always next year, guys.
