How many Spider-Men does it take to make a new Spider-Man movie? The answer is more obvious than one might think. The upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie requires three Spider-Men: Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man 2002-2007), Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man 2012-2014 ) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man 2016-?). If the reports are correct, all three actors have signed on to sling webs in the long-running superhero franchise’s next film, set to be directed by Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home filmmaker Jon Watts.Movie insider site FandomWire says that their Sony source has confirmed that Maguire, Garfield, and Holland will all appear in an untitled Spidey threequel due out in late 2021 (‘Yeah right,’ says anyone keeping up with the laundry list of movie release delays delivered to us by the pandemic). The movie will be Holland’s third time appearing as Peter Parker and his masked superhero alias in a standalone film (his Spider-Man also had screen time in three Avengers franchise movies).[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Russo brothers say Deadpool could show up in the next Spider-Man movie[/video_embed]Plot details are scarce but we do know that the blockbuster lineup will include Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and Zendaya in the role of classic Parker love interest, MJ (aka Mary Jane Watson). FandomWire reports that it’s Strange who will bring all three iterations of Spider-Man together, helping them to team up against an onslaught of supervillains as part of the central story arc (as opposed to some post-credits cameo Easter egg surprise).
