The housing market is as competitive as ever these days, with condos, apartments and townhomes going for a small fortune. So as our living spaces get smaller and smaller, it’s only natural that we’re ready to seek out space-saving solutions and tinier versions of traditional appliances and furniture items.
That’s why we think this brilliant new cube from German designer Niels Holger Moormann is… well, brilliant. Although it just so happens to be the largest piece of furniture Moormann has ever designed, it’s genius in that it fits everything you’d ever need into one handy little cube.
Sure you can hang your bike on the exterior of the cube, but fold that down and you’ve got your living room area. As in a nifty little couch complete with throw pillows that’s perfect for lounging on and reading or watching TV. It also happens to come with some storage units below. Flanking the sofa is a bookshelf for any actual books you may need to tuck away, and display pieces for your personalized knickknacks. You know, to really give your cube that personal touch.
Then there are the stairs leading up to the top half and bed/desk area, which also serve as drawers for your clothes or any other storage you may need. On the other side is the “kitchen” area, as in a foldable seating area complete with a chalkboard for all of your meal-planning needs. Snuggled up against an actual gallery kitchen, it’s pretty much a perfect complement.
Inside the cube itself is even more storage for anything else you may need to tuck away, such as bottles of booze, cleaning supplies or perhaps outdoor accessories. Who needs a storage locker when you’ve got so much extra room to play with?
Consider us on board. We mean, just because your apartment happens to be tiny doesn’t mean your living space should be, right? This is just the best of both worlds.
