The musical world honored one of the most iconic voices of all time at the American Music Awards this weekend with a tribute to Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard on it’s 25th anniversary. Christina Aguilera was tapped for the performance, singing a medley that included “I Will Always Love You,” “I Have Nothing,” “Run to you” and “I’m Every Woman” while scenes from the 1992 film played behind her. As with any performance honoring a late singer, Aguilera was met with both praise and hostility.

During the broadcast, the crowd was clearly a mixed bag of people loving Christina’s rendition of the iconic songs and people . . . not loving it. Every reaction under the sun was depicted in audience cutaways. Some members of the crowd were stone-faced throughout, others were dancing and singing along (including This Is Us’s Chrissy Metz). Twitter had very mixed reactions as well, ranging from “QUEEN!” to “Get this out of my face.”

One theme that became popular in the Twitter criticism of the performance was P!nk’s reaction. During the very beginning of the medley, the camera cut to P!nk and her furrowed brow which everyone interpreted as critical of Aguilera. It looked a little something like this:

P!nk and Aguilera have had a public “feud” which has been mercilessly scrutinized by media and fans since 2001 when they collaborated with Lil’ Kim and Mya on a “Lady Marmalade” cover for Moulin Rouge. After that, every little comment that could be interpreted as a dig at the other signer was reported on until last year when P!nk appeared as an adviser on The Voice. People were ready for drama of the Mariah-and-Nicki-on-Idol variety but the two stars seemed to get along and even reported afterward that they had fun together. This August, P!nk shut down any Aguilera hate surrounding her VMA Vanguard Award win, tweeting “I [heart] Xtina. We’ve made amends.” Apparently, the AMA’s didn’t get the memo and they may or may not have been trying to stir up some controversy by cutting away to P!nk’s reaction repeatedly during the performance.

Sure, she was frowning in one shot, but in other ones, P!nk could also be seen smiling, dancing and tearing up. No P!nk shade, just broadcast shade.

After the AMAs, when P!nk saw the reaction to her reaction, she tweeted to set the record straight once and for all. Listen up people: there is no beef between P!nk and Christina. None.

After the show, Christina posted a video thanking Whitney Houston’s family for allowing her to perform the tribute and “making a little girl’s dreams come true.” There have also been unconfirmed reports that Houston’s family actually requested Aguilera for the gig, preferring her to any other singer.
