Everyone knows that big, bold brows are all the rage right now (sorry Kate Moss and fellow nineties over-pluckers everywhere). That’s why there are so many new brow-focused products currently out there, from enhancing liners and creams to all-out eyebrow wigs and microblading options that help beauty aficionados of all walks of life achieve that fuller look.

That doesn’t necessarily make the task any less expensive, of course. One of the more popular brow pencils out there, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz retails for just under 30 bucks but it’s hair-like strokes can’t be beat. Unfortunately though, doesn’t it always seem like the pencil runs out way too fast?

Except maybe it actually doesn’t. You see, one clever Reddit user managed to pry their pencil open after it ran out one day, revealing at least one, maybe two more months left of product hidden within. Jackpot!

Broke open my Brow Wiz after it was “empty” and this is how much product was left from MakeupAddiction

Seriously, just look at all of that good stuff we’ve been throwing out. It’s like discovering a whole new stick of product.

Naturally others started prying open their own pencils shortly after this hack was revealed, and it turns out the user’s experience wasn’t just a one-off. In fact, there were several brands that had extra product hidden within. That makes us sad and even a little angry, picturing all of the undiscovered makeup we’ve probably thrown away over the years. And we aren’t the only ones.

According to the original post, all you need to do to access your extra product is crack open the pencil using a little “hulk” force. And once it’s open you have to be careful not to break off the actual makeup, since it no longer has the casing holding it together.

If you can, it may be wise to transfer the stick to a small pot and to use an eyebrow makeup brush to apply your strokes instead, maximizing all of that makeup goodness. Sure, you won’t necessarily get those aforementioned hair-like strokes we covet from the brand in the first place, but just think of all the money you’re saving.

And in the end, aren’t those savings a beautiful thing?

We sure think so.
