Royally impatient

The countdown is on. The 2017 Invictus Games hit Toronto in 10 days which means Prince Harry will soon be in town. We expect a reunion between Harry and his equally dapper pal, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, but that might be overshadowed by a very special guest: Harry’s girlfriend, Meghan Markle. Because not only is she expected to be in attendance, but Harry and Megs are believed to be making their first public appearance as a couple. That means actual photographs of the pair, side by side, hopefully hand in hand, OMG.

The Daily Mail also reports that the engagement announcement is coming, but are leaving some room between it and the Cambridges‘ baby announcement. And while Meghan has yet to meet the Queen (because that won’t happen until their impending marriage is announced), Markle has met Prince Charles and Camilla “and is said to have made a good impression.”

The Mail also reports that the royal household is undergoing some major changes. There’s the possibility of Harry moving out of Nottingham Cottage and into something more couple-appropriate. The Palace is also trying to get Markle to keep her publicity commitments to a minimum, in what many are calling “Operation Princess.”

The Invictus Games will be held from Sept. 22 to Sept. 30 and we can’t wait.

Speaking of Toronto, that’s where Angelina and the kids are

Angelina Jolie and five of her kids — no Maddox — attended the premiere of The Breadwinner at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday. Ange is one of the producers of the animated film, which centres on a Parvana, a young Afghan girl who cuts off her hair and disguises herself as a boy in order to support her family after the Taliban imprisons her father.

Here’s Ange with Vivienne, Shiloh, Knox and Zahara:

Pax joined them on the red carpet, along with The Breadwinner‘s director, Nora Twomey (next to Jolie), and star, Saara Chaudry (far right). The girl in front of Jolie is Sareum Srey Moch, the star of her other passion project, First They Killed My Father, which is based on the memoir of Loung Ung (staring at Angie the way we all do). She also happens to be Ange’s BFF, so it’s less creepy when she does it.

First They Killed My Father, will premiere Monday night and our only question at this moment? Will she stun in white once again, or will she be in her standard black garb?

The Fifty Shades Freed teaser trailer came out, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect

For the third consecutive Valentine’s Day, a Fifty Shades movie will hit theatres. Fifty Shades Freed is the final in the trilogy and here’s hoping it really is the last. Considering the first two movies have made nearly a billion dollars worldwide, we should all be thankful that the studio didn’t split the final book into a two-parter à la Twilight and Hunger Games, but even they knew that would’ve been the whip that broke the camel’s back.

The first trailer is out and it’s … well, it’s Fifty Shades. There’s more sex, there’s shirtless Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) coming out of the water and — SPOILER ALERT for those who haven’t read the book — there’s the wedding (“Mrs. Grey will see you now” reads the tagline) and honeymoon, and danger ahead for the BDSM-loving couple.

The full trailer is due out in November, but this should tide you over until then.

Jennifer Lawrence said some stuff about hurricanes and people overreacted

Hurricane Irma cut through the Caribbean and Florida this past weekend, taking lives and leaving a path of destruction so enormous it’s hard to see how the places affected can come back from it all. If and when they do, how long will it take and how much will it cost? It’s heartbreaking. And because of how quickly it came after Harvey, it’s pretty clear that what scientists and weather specialists have been saying for decades is finally happening: global warming is to blame.

But a surprising number of people think this is God at work. Um, sure? In a recent interview with Channel 4 News, Jennifer Lawrence spoke with social affairs editor Jackie Long who mentioned a statement Jen’s Mother! director (and boyfriend) Darren Aronofsky made where he said, “It’s a mad time to be alive.” Long described it as having an “end of days feeling” to it and suggested to J-Law that it might particularly resonate with Americans.

“It’s scary,” Lawrence replied. “This new language that’s forming. I don’t even recognize it. It’s also scary to know that climate change is due to human activity and we continue to ignore it, and the only voice that we really have is through voting … And we voted, and it was really startling. You’re watching these hurricanes now and it’s hard, especially while promoting this movie, not to feel Mother Nature’s rage or wrath.”

Some people decided to take what Jen said and twist it into something about Trump and the election. Really.

Well, if you need an example of how things get taken out of context, this is it. Jen may say and do some silly things but this is not one of them. Sigh.

Goop’s first magazine cover features Gwyneth topless

Gwyneth Paltrow is the CEO and face of goop, so it’s only natural that she covers the first edition of goop Magazine. It’s also natural that the “Earth and Gwyneth”-themed issue — which focuses on the actress’ passion for health and wellness, cleanses and walking barefoot in the grass — features a topless Paltrow, her body completely covered in mud.

Because she knows what sells. Goop Magazine hits newsstands on Sept. 19.
