Serena and Meg reunited and it wasn't so good

They've been great friends since 2010 so it only made sense that Duchess Meghan would show up at the U.S. Open finals to support Serena Williams as she strived to win her 24th grand slam. (Spoiler alert, she didn't and Canadian Bianca Andreescu took the title, her very first major.) Nevertheless, the Duchess of Sussex sat in Williams' box, behind Serena's husband, Alexis Ohanian, and in front of Anna Wintour, and cheered her on, to no avail. The trip marked Meghan's first trip overseas without her son, Archie. People reports Prince Harry and the four-month-old were on their own for the weekend while Mom went on the "last-minute trip." According to The Times, Meg was "excited to support her friend, and then come back."Meghan's last trip to NYC was in February, when she attended her baby shower — which Serena also attended. But the last time the pals actually saw one another was in July when Serena played at Wimbledon and Meghan was joined by her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate, and Kate's sister Pippa Middleton for that women's final. This time around, Meghan wanted to keep her trip to the Big Apple as modest as possible, everything from the commercial flight she took to the J.Crew dress she wore to cheer Serena on. Page Six also reported that she stayed at her pal Misha Nonoo's place, rather than rack up a royal bill at a fancy hotel."After all the big fanfare of her trip for her two-day baby shower, where paparazzi followed her every move and staked out The Mark Hotel to catch Meghan, her famous friends and the array of gifts arriving, it seems Meghan has learned her lesson," an insider told Page Six. "She was in New York to support Serena, and catch up with a few other old friends, but was determined to keep everything very low-key and as under-the-radar as possible."Meghan also attended a yoga class with Nonoo (with whom she'll see again this week as they work on one of Meg's beloved charities), and those in attendance "didn't bother her at all." Meghan also made time to catch up with her longtime makeup artist, Daniel Martin, to celebrate his birthday because she's a giver like that.

Felicity Huffman hopes to only spend a month in jail, thanks to some recommendation letters from high places

In an effort to keep her sentence to a minimum, Felicity Huffman enlisted her friends to write some favourable words to the judge handing the college admissions case, arguing why she should receive no more than one month behind bars.Huffman, who entered a guilty plea on May 13 to charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services fraud, is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, September 13. In the meantime, her husband, William H. Macy, Eva Longoria and Marc Cherry from her Desperate Housewives family and her real-life siblings were just a handful of the 27 people who sent letters in support of Felicity to District of Massachusetts judge Indira Talwani, reports Us Weekly. The hope? That Huffman will get no more than the government's recommended sentence of one month in jail, as well as 12 months of supervised release and a $20,000 fine.Macy explained how they raised their daughters away from the spotlight, and how the ordeal has affected them all, particularly their daughters. "[Sophia] still doesn't like to sleep alone and has nightmares from FBI agents waking her that morning with guns drawn," he wrote, according to Us. As for younger sister Georgia: "After watching the six FBI agents put her handcuffed Mom into a car and drive her away, she cried.”Longoria wrote how Huffman took her "under her wing" during the early DH days as well as a specific time of Felicity helped her deal with a workplace bully. "There was a time when I was being bullied at work by a co-worker," read Eva's letter. "I dreaded the days I had to work with that person because it was pure torture. Until one day, Felicity told the bully 'enough' and it all stopped. Felicity could feel that I was riddled with anxiety even though I never complained or mentioned the abuse to anyone. I know I would not have survived those 10 years if it wasn't for the friendship of Felicity."Cherry spoke of an instance where Huffman helped another actress with her lines, "treating her with so much kindness," as well as how Felicity dealt with a "problematic" actress on the show who was making life miserable for everyone. "Felicity still insisted on saying, 'Good morning' to this actress, even though she knew she wouldn't get a response. I found out about this and asked Felicity about it. She smiled and said, 'Just because that woman's determined to be rude, doesn't mean she can keep me from being polite.'" Hmm, to whom pray tell could Cherry be referring? The show's creator ended his letter with a plea to the judge, writing, "Any mercy you can show this woman will not be wasted."Guess we'll find out soon enough what the future has in store for Huffman and whether or not these letters have any effect on the verdict.desperate housewives lynette

And the trailer for Lifetime's college admissions movie is trash at its best

Leave it to Lifetime to put out a movie about the college admissions scandal that's literally called The College Admissions Scandal . The network couldn't have pounced on the story faster, focusing on two desperate mothers — one who seems wary, one who appears to be all in — who will do anything to get their children into the right colleges. Inspired by true events (duh), we get a look at all kinds of cheating and bribery (and consequences, perhaps?) and it's as Lifetime as it gets.

Bloody hell, you'll never guess who was cast as Margaret Thatcher on The Crown

The Crown just cast its Margaret Thatcher and let's just say X-Files fans will ecstatic. No, no, not because David Duchovny is going to pop on a whole lot of makeup and a wig but, rather, Gillian Anderson has signed on to play the former British prime minister. The actress may have been born in Chicago but she spent much of her childhood in London before returning to America when she was 11. But Anderson has kept homes on both sides of the pond, and has reportedly lived in London since 2002 and her resume — which include British series The Fall and Sex Education — proves the U.K. holds a special place in her heart. In fact, we couldn't imagine a more perfect actress to take on the Iron Lady.Anderson's Thatcher won't show up until the series' fourth season, which is currently in production. We'll also be introduced to another very important royal for Season 4: Lady Diana Spencer. The Crown, bring on all the amazing women, please and thank you.

Joe Jonas' shirt of Bieber wearing a Jonas Brothers tee may be the best thing ever

Joe Jonas may be devoted to wife Sophie Turner but the singer was able to show a little love to one other person: Justin Bieber. Joe was at the U.S. Open with brother Nick but, for once, no one was paying attention to them but, rather, what the middle Jonas brother was wearing: a T-shirt with a photo of Bieber screened onto it. But that's not all. The shirt Biebs is wearing? A Jonas Brothers shirt.
