The Billboard Music Awards broadcast live this Sunday (May 21, at 8 p.m. ET on CTV). Performers will include Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Drake and more. Celine Dion, in a special 20th anniversary Titanic performance, will sing “My Heart Will Go On;” we’ll be reduced to tears as always, but our hearts will also go on.
It’s going to be spectacular, of course. But, you know what we’ll really be looking at? The same thing you’re looking at. What. The heck. Are they wearing??
We’re not the only ones asking that question.
We caught up with some of the kids from Carol C Dance Studio and Great Big Theatre Company to get their take on some of last year’s Billboard fashions and, no surprise here, they had some opinions. Some pretty strong opinions.
Just a few of the surprisingly useful things we learned from these junior fashion critics:
- If you find yourself on a red carpet, do not, under any circumstances, wear brown. “It’s plain brown” sums it up nicely. And we agree, Rihanna can do better.
- If you’re going to wear a cape, you may just end up looking like a bat. Just look at Dracula; or Trevor Moran.
- Do not, we repeat, do not dress like your dad on his way to work. That is not red carpet worthy.
- And sparkles? On the red carpet, they can’t miss. You can take that one to the bank.
Don’t take it from us though, these kids clearly have a future in fashion.
