There are endless beauty hacks to help achieve the perfect cat eyeliner — a tiny triangle-shaped sponge, scotch tape, a two-in-one pen. What can we say, the makeup world breeds creativity.

And another wildly crafty beauty blogger, Makeup by Sugar, has discovered a sneaky and brilliantly simple trick to achieve the perfect swipe of liquid liner. Turns out that dental floss, which we use every single day (or once a week, when we remember), is the perfect tool.

Using black liquid eyeliner, the New York City-based artist first paints a thin coat of the makeup onto one side of the floss, then carefully (and quickly, so it doesn’t dry) places the floss onto the spots around her eyes where she wants the eyeliner flick. This creates the perfect outline, which she then fills in with ease using her liquid liner pen. It all takes just a few minutes to complete. Easy peasy!

This particular beauty buff uses a dental floss pick, so there’s a handle to hold, but we’re pretty certain just a long string of floss and a steady hand would work, too.

Here’s the step-by-step look:

Another EYELINER HACK that works using a DENTAL FLOSS as a guide to make sure you will not go crazy with your winged liner. Lol! And match this with Heartbreaker lipstick from @hudabeauty @shophudabeauty, you are now ready for your Valentine’s date. ❤❤❤ 👉🏼I actually filmed this last year. I forgot all about it. Lol! 😊 Note: Do not use the mint flavor dental floss. _________________________________________________ #wakeupandmakeup #allmodernmakeup #eyeblogbeauty #makeupclips #makeupvideoss #fakeuproom #makeupslaves #slave2beauty #stylevideo #1minutemakeup #maryhadalittleglam #talkthatmakeup #make4glam #glamvids #makeuptutorialsx0x #hypnaughtymakeup #hypnaughtypower #makeupcoach #fakeupfix #peachyqueenblog #brian_champagne #cakefacevanity #ShimyCatsMUA #makeupfanatic1 #liveglam #fashionarttut #hudabeauty #makeup #makeupaddict @refinery29

Pretty clever, right? The clip has gained over 2.1 million views and counting, and the comments section is just an endless page of praise for this ingenious invention. One thing the beauty blogger does point out, however, is to avoid flavoured floss… unless, of course, peppermint is your jam and you want your face smelling fresh all day.

What we love most about this trick is that it’s inexpensive, and uses something we already have in our bathroom cupboard. You can bet your Burberry we’ll be giving this beauty hack a whirl over the weekend.
