There are tons of stories about sibling rivalry out there, but one thing that’s true about most those kinds of relationships is this: they’ve always got your back.

One little girl from Newcastle, OK proved that recently when she decided to stick up for her little sister, who was being bullied for having short hair. When nine-year-old Jorgia Orrick came home upset for being teased about her ‘do, her 11-year-old sister came up with a plan of her own.

With a little help from her mom, whose childhood friend cuts hair, Sara decided to chop all hers off in an act of solidarity. And we have to say that not only was it brave, but the look is also really quite flattering on her.

Apparently Sara came up with the entirety of the style herself, directing the hairstylist on how to cut it. Creatively pretty for an 11-year-old, huh?

The hairstyle worked out so well that the girls’ mom said that younger sister Jorgia was even a little jealous of Sara, but she has since gotten past it. We suppose there has to be some sibling rivalry in any given relationship, right?

Seriously though, that was a lot of hair to cut off. We know adults who aren’t that brave when it comes to getting a couple of inches cut off — never mind going from hair that reaches the small of your back to this.

Our hats are going off to Sara today. Because she’s right: why can’t girls have short hair? This picture goes to show you that the look is just as stunning as long tresses any day of the week.
