A random act of kindness can bring a smile to anyone’s face. And the award for making us feel all warm and fuzzy today goes to actors Renee Zellweger and Zach Galifianakis.
Unknown to the world, this duo has been taking care of Mimi, a homeless woman in Santa Monica, whom Galifianakis befriended at her place of employment, Fox Coin Laundry. When he found out Mimi was without a home and family, the actor came to her rescue and put her up in an apartment. Upon hearing the story, Zellweger wanted to lend a hand and made sure Mimi’s place was furnished and her fridge was stocked.
That was almost two years ago! While Galifianakis handles Mimi’s monthly rent and utilities, Zellweger regularly visits with groceries. This is especially sweet because these stars didn’t just write a cheque and call it a day. They made a commitment and have invested their time to make sure Mimi (who is apparently in her 80s) is well taken care of.
We wish these were the kinds of stories the paparazzi chased. Sigh.
