Next time you’re tempted to dismiss the opposing team at all costs, keep this little tale in mind.
As the Globe and Mail reports, a hungry team of Boston Bruins wandered into a Mississauga eatery after their Sunday playoff game. Their charter flight had been cancelled and they were stuck in Toronto overnight… with Canada-sized post-game appetites.
While some die-hard Leafs fans would have sent the starving athletes packing, four employees at the Canyon Creek Chophouse agreed to keep the restaurant open long past closing to accommodate the Black and Gold.
“I had literally closed the till for my bartender and we were closing in five minutes and I get this phone call,” Restaurant manager Lauren Grenier told the paper.
“And they’re like, hey, there’s about 50 of us coming down to your restaurant, it’s the Boston Bruins. And I’m like, sure it is. I didn’t believe them because we’re always playing pranks on each other here at work late at night.”
Turns out it was no joke, and neither was the tip they received at the end of the night: Four tickets to Monday night’s big Game 7 at Boston’s TD Garden.
Grenier and her three hard-working staff got into their car at 4:30 Monday morning to head to Beantown. They’ll bravely sport their Leafs jerseys, too. Well, three of them. The bartender is a Boston fan.
