Back when she was single and longing for a relationship, British woman Chloe Mayo channeled her dreams into an oil painting where she appears holding hands with a bearded man underneath a tree.

Thinking nothing of the painting at the time, Mayo put it away somewhere in her home and went on with her life.

Several months later, she joined an online dating site and started chatting with a nice man named Michael Goeman – a man who happened to look uncannily like the lover in the portrait she had recently painted (below).

The pair started dating and a beautiful relationship developed. Scared that her new beau would be freaked out by the painting, she hid it when he came over.

“I didn’t hang it up, I just left it in a pile in the corner of my lounge for weeks and forgot about it but after a night out with Michael I realised he looked just like the man,” she told the Daily Mail.

“He was due to come over to my house and I thought that if he saw the picture he would think I was a stalker and a bit weird, so I hid it under my bed.”

Once she felt comfortable enough to share the crazy coincidence, Mayo showed Goeman the painting and explained how it occurred. He found it hilarious instead of creepy and proposed to his artistic girlfriend 18 months later.

Recently married, the couple now hangs the painting in their home and it’s become a running joke among their friends.

‘I never would have thought I’d have predicted my husband and I don’t normally believe in that sort of thing, but I suppose it must be fate,” she added.

Cue a sudden global spike in sales of The Secret – and paintbrushes.
