In her brief, but amazing life, Talia Joy Castellano made millions of fans smile with her warm, lively personality and precocious makeup skills, which she displayed in dozens of YouTube tutorial videos.
Before she lost her battle with cancer last month, the 13-year-old dynamo had amassed millions of video views, a CoverGirl ad and a spot on Ellen.
She proved particularly strong in the face of her long, often painful trips to the hospital and when she lost her hair to chemotherapy she refused to wear a wig, saying she felt “fake” and would rather be true to who she is.
Instead, she preferred to experiment with cosmetics, getting a confidence boost from her own notable skill at applying makeup and sharing that skill with the world.
Even though she knew her illness was terminal, her passing in July deeply affected those who had come to love her.
So to keep her memory alive, fellow teen and fan Lauren Vennes has started a Change.org petition to get MAC Cosmetics to give Talia her own makeup line – one of her “bucket list” wishes.
“MAC cosmetics has made lines of makeup that give profits to different causes before, and they could become leaders by dedicating a line of makeup to a young fan with cancer like Talia,” Lauren writes on the petition’s official page.
“Please help support the beautiful little angel in heaven’s dreams come true.”
Included in the petition is an open letter to MAC head honchos asking them to make Talia’s dream a reality and assuring them her multitude of fans would be there to support the line.
Lauren is also hoping the company would donate some profits to cancer research, according to the Daily Mail.
To date, the petition has reached an amazing 25,000 signatures. If you’d like to add your name to the list, click here.
