Set aside the fact for a moment that this three-minute short film is actually an ad for a Thai telecommunications company.

Though no one likes to be manipulated by corporate interest, the result of “TrueMove H: Giving” is a piece of filmmaking that manages to generate a strong emotional response – no mean feat for any storytelling endeavour.

Without giving too much away, the video demonstrates how one individual act of kindness can have reverberations for the rest of one’s life, not to mention the ability to change the lives of those the act of kindness has touched.

With nearly five million YouTube views in just under a week, it’s clear that people around the world are hankering for a little more of this kindness.

Warning: This film has a two-Kleenex rating; triple that if you’re pregnant, recently became a parent, or have a sick loved one.
