Dogs don’t discriminate. They are capable of such pure kindness because they learn to love unconditionally and without conditions.
It’s partly why they make the world’s best four-legged companions (sorry, cats. You know what I’m talking about).
Even though the Internet is riddled with examples of this sort of love, each new one still manages to move us in a deeper way.
But you’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful incidence of canine compassion than this video of a mother dog in La Plata, Argentina befriending a young boy with Down syndrome.
According to his mother, Hernan often shies away from physical contact and keeps to himself. These characteristics might discourage other human playmates, but that’s because they don’t have the persistence – and heart – of Himalaya, the golden lab in the video.
Watch their interaction and have your faith in the world temporarily restored.
