When we travel, we are cautioned to keep an eye on our wallets and electronics, as thieves tend to prey on unsuspecting passengers. So it’s nice to hear that there are, in fact, some honest people looking out for us.
When Patrick Morgan, a janitor at Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, found an iPad and $13,000 in cash on a bench at the tiki bar, he didn’t even think about pocketing the prize. Instead, he took the high road and restored the items to their rightful owner, who happened to be returning home from a lucky trip to Vegas when he thoughtlessly left his bag behind.
After returning the items, Morgan received a $60 reward. But rather than keeping it, Morgan passed it along to some disadvantaged individuals. He gave $40 to a homeless woman for a bus pass and $20 to a colleague in need.
Mark Klein, senior vice president of Sunshine Cleaning Systems, says, “It gives you goose bumps to know that you have employees and business partners who are so honest and have the integrity that [Morgan] has.”
Morgan’s employers awarded him with an extra week’s worth of pay, and the man’s good character has been rightfully applauded far and wide.
