Better chew with your mouth closed.
There’s no talking allowed at ‘Eat’ restaurant in New York. All you do is chew, and stare. But the idea is proving to be a hit in the city, and the owner says business has been great.
Nicholas Nauman came up with the idea while visiting a monastery in India. There, he ate ‘silent breakfast’ every morning, and noticed that the quiet really made him really savour the food.
Customers who enter aren’t allowed to speak after ordering. Not a word. Some visitors have even run outside just to blow their nose.
‘I was probably concentrating on food more than otherwise,’ one patron says in the video. ‘But I was happy there was no conversation.’
Just don’t ask anyone to pass the salt.
