Times are hard for everyone, which is why a moment of levity is appreciated now more than ever. For now, that moment came courtesy of a cannabis-inspired Seth Rogen watching Cats for the first time and live-tweeting his experience. Not all heroes wear capes. Some smoke a bowl and then trip out to Dame Judi Dench covered in fur. While becoming inebriated and jumping on social media is usually something to be cautioned against, Rogen is a pro. He’s also now one of the millions of people who has watched Cats with the sole purpose of seeing whether it lives up to the outrageous response the trailer of the Tom Hooper-directed film received online. According to Rogen, and TBH pretty much everyone else who has seen the flick, it delivers all nine lives.[video_embed id='1923295']RELATED: 'Cats' sweeps 2020 Razzie Awards[/video_embed]The actor and writer made his state of mind going into his viewing crystal-clear, tweeting “I’m pretty stoned and watching Cats. I’ve never seen the broadway show. It is truly trippy. Am I supposed to know what a Jellicle is? They’ve said it 200,000 times but I don’t know what’s happening haha.” Also to be clear, even a high Seth Rogen knows you don’t mess with the great Stringer Bell. The funnyman went on to tweet a series of observations that many who have sat through the two-hour film have made, including the inconsistent use of pants, the mystery of Chuck Taylor sneakers on cats, the overuse of the word ‘cats,’ and the inexplicable fact that Ian McKellan’s cat character has fingers. What? Rogen also watched the behind-the-scenes extras for the film, which is arguably just as entertaining as the movie itself, and had even more questions about Cats. Question one—how do you get actors to rehearse so diligently to play felines, even attending cat school? The question of scaling in the world of Cats was also broached, because even when in a fuzzy state of mind, the film does not make sense. As a major player in Hollywood, Rogen was able to shed some light on the film. We don’t mean he was able to explain it, because who could explain it, honestly. Instead, Rogen shared the scoop on an alternative cut, which currently sits in a litterbox somewhere. Eventually, Rogen decided to take a break from the Razzie-winning movie and cleanse his palette with a more realistic entertainment option in 90 Day Fiancé. That’s how outrageous Cats is.Cats was the big winner at this year’s Golden Raspberry Awards, winning six of the eight categories it was nominated in, walking away with Worst Picture, Worst Director for Hooper, Worst Screenplay, Worst Supporting Actor for James Corden, Worst Supporting Actress for Rebel Wilson, and Worst Screen Combo for Any Two Half-Feline/Half-Human Hairballs.Even with all the criticism, the cast and crew should take heart in the fact that the film still brought joy to many in these surreal times.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Sleeping puppy has an adorable reaction to getting scratched[/video_embed]
