CBC celebrates 2013 with new ‘Coronation Street’

Network broadcasts back-to-back 'Corrie' episodes on New Year's Day.

Coronation Street fans rejoice: CBC rings in New Year’s Day with three back-to-back new episodes.

The public broadcaster made the announcement via press release, detailing the trio of storylines debut Tuesday, Jan. 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. local time (7 p.m. in Newfoundland and Labrador).

As per the release, the three episodes bring Canadian viewers up to date with their U.K. counterparts. Coronation Street airs weekdays at 7:30 p.m., with the week’s worth of instalments rerun Sundays from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

At 52 seasons on the air in over 160 countries, Coronation Street is the longest-running soap opera in the world.

Missed past episodes of Corrie? Those broadcast in 2011 and 2012 are available on iTunes.
