Can you even imagine Tom Cruise’s reaction when he found out that his ex-wife is apparently engaged in a hot-and-heavy new romance with Jake Gyllenhaal??? Tall Jake Gyllenhaal…young Jake Gyllenhaal…Jake Gyllenhaal who has already been immortalized in a Taylor Swift song!!!
It’s almost too good to be true, and given the source (an unnamed insider speaking with Grazia magazine) it may very well be, but just for now, let’s not even bother questioning why an Italian tabloid would have the inside scoop on Katie Holmes and Jake and go with it.
Let’s believe (as Grazia claims) that the romance was masterminded by Katie’s old Dawson’s Creek pal (and former paramour) Josh Jackson and that there have already been numerous romantic dinners in NYC including one at Jake’s apartment.
Katie and Jake do seem well suited. Both have avoided the celebrity party scene and seem pleasantly nerdish compared to some of their hard-partying peers. Both are into theatre (Grazia claims Jake has already been to see K-Ho on Broadway), and Jake is super close to his nieces, which is a good sign where Suri is concerned…
Is it too early to come up with a combined couple nickname? (Holmenhaal? Kake? Gylatie?)
Sigh…okay, that was fun, but now for a little rain on our parade: According to Katie’s rep, this story is “has not one ounce of truth.” Reps for Josh Jackson and Jake released similar denials. So I guess it comes down to which source is more trustworthy, and the answer to that question is neither.
Of course Grazia is probably not a reliable source, but publicity people have certainly been known to lie to protect their celebrity clients’ privacy. I’m pretty sure Jake’s rep never confirmed that he was dating Taylor Swift and we all know that relationship happened.
As for Katie goes, it seems logical that any info about her love life (true or false) would be a closely guarded secret at this point. So maybe it’s not a sure thing, but I’m not willing to give up on Holmenhaal just yet.
