Damn you, Harry Styles. How dare you mess with Taylor Swift, not to mention our precious eardrums? It looks as though T-Swift may have yet another love-slash-breakup-related song on the horizon, making the droll delivery of “like, ever” and peppy, pop-so-not-country beat of “you found me-e-e-e-e” just two more annoyingly infectious things of her chart-topping past. (Sorry, those songs are going to be stuck in your head all day now.)
According to The Enquirer, Styles is the latest in a gaggle of Swifty boyfriends that is about to bust up the singer’s heart.
“Little does Taylor know that Harry’s handlers went to great lengths to put the two together because she’s such a huge star,” said an insider. “Anytime Taylor starts dating a new guy she gets a flurry of media attention, and her breakups receive even more.” File that under “no s***, Sherlock.”
“After one of Taylor’s relationships sours, it’s almost a sure bet she’ll write a song about it and there will be even more waves of publicity,” noted the insider. “That’s why her romance with Harry was arranged by his handlers.”
The source added: “When his advisers saw the potential for a blossoming relationship, they began doing everything they could to push the two closer together. It took some time because Taylor began to date Conor Kennedy, but they didn’t give up and saw to it that Harry was waiting for her with open arms when she broke up with him. Now they’re just waiting for the relationship to take its course and reap the publicity benefits of a breakup.”
The only problem? “Taylor has really fallen hard for Harry, so her heartbreak is going to be a real doozy.”
Funnily enough, I don’t know if this is entirely true. Yes, we all know T-Swift likes to use her breakups for fodder (just ask Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer), and, sure, I believe Harry’s people got in touch with Swifty’s people and things went from there. But One Direction isn’t exactly starved for attention, and considering Harry is already known as the womanizer of the group, he didn’t need to also be known as a Swifty heartbreaker. In fact, that might do the opposite and hurt his image.
