Octomom Nadya Suleman may have gotten off welfare five months ago, but she has discovered she still needs the government’s help. I guess that porn movie, the stripper gigs and her music single was only a temporary fix.
Sources close to Octo told TMZ the single mother of 14 (every time I say that, my uterus weeps) has signed up for welfare again after her rehab bills from October ate up her savings. Ugh. When Suleman checked herself into rehab, I just figured the facility admitted her for free (because everyone else seems to enjoy giving this woman a free ride), or someone else was footing the bill. Why would she dip into the family’s cookie jar money when she knows full well they can’t afford it? Either way, it was 30 days away from her kids (she left them with three nannies and two friends for the month), so I just thought it was a bit of a vacation for Octo. And, sure, it probably was, but it was more of a layaway holiday. Now real life has set in.
Hopefully Nadya got the treatment she needed in rehab, and she is now “the best mother she can be,” which is the main reason she sought help (at least, according to her manager). Now it’s back to the old drawing board, with money being the number-one problem. According to TMZ, Suleman qualifies for $2,800 of government aid per month ($1,800 for food; $1,000 for emergency cash), as well as benefits to help with mental health and dental issues.
The sources say Octo only plans to use the welfare funds to help her get back on her feet. So basically, once she lines up more pillow-fighting gigs and celebrity boxing matches, she’ll be rolling in it once again. The thing I don’t get (and probably never will) — how does someone on welfare have a manager? Gah!
