David Beckham and H&M: Liar, liar, (under)pants on fire

Beckham didn't do all of his footy stunts. What a bummer.

What is with all of the celebrity faking of late? Beyonce‘s fake baby bump then Beyonce’s fake singing and now we’re getting word that David Beckham used a fake bum in a new advert for his H&M underwear line.

Earlier today the Huffington Post UK determined that everyone’s fave footballer used a body double for certain clips. They determined this based on some inconsistency in tattoos and muscle curvature.

What I want to talk about is why it matters.

First off, it’s official: We now live in a world where David Beckham needs a body double. Just pause and take that in for a second. David Beckham, arguably the closest living embodiment of Michelangelo’s “The David,” has been deemed not sufficiently in shape for a movie about a hot dude (named David Beckham) running around in his tighty-greenies.

Secondly, and much more importantly, it is a big deal because he lied. Earlier this week Becks told the Associated Press how much he enjoyed “getting to do all the stunts” and talked about how it was “good fun playing an action hero for the day.”

Would it have killed him to offer a quick shout out to his body double? Apparently so, but now the whole world is aware and David Beckham’s morality is once again under fire.

Oh well, at least this time he’s in trouble for what he didn’t do rather than who he did. You all know what I’m talking about.
