Another one bites the dust. Longtime married couple (well, by Hollywood standards) Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to call it quits after eight years of occasionally wedded bliss.
The beautiful pair first tied the knot in 2005 after several years of dating. It was the second marriage for both. Josh, 45, has two kids from his first marriage, a 24-year-old and an 18-year-old — which is hard to imagine because it’s weird when you think of your friend’s dad being a super hot actor you’ve totally had inappropriate thoughts about. Actually, never mind. This is the entire premise of the porn industry.
But back to the matter at hand. Josh and Diane have had a bit of a rocky ride, with the Gangster Squad star adding a few mug shots to his portfolio thanks to a bit of public intoxication and a nasty habit of (allegedly) beating people up when he’s drunk.
To her credit, the 48-year-old actress handled his bad behaviour with characteristic grace and silence. Except now she doesn’t have to, although it appears the split was far from acrimonious.
“Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage,” their reps told Us magazine. Adds an insider: “It was a mutual decision. It is very amicable. It’s not ugly, it’s just over.”
Despite his whisky-induced tantrums, Josh and Diane were a couple you were sort of rooting for: A bit more mature, both talented, somewhat underrated actors who shun the paparazzi game and seemed to just want to work and be a solid couple. Why can’t we have nice things anymore? RIP Love.
