Oh, to be one of the few functioning brain cells in Lindsay Lohan‘s head. The girl fired Shawn Holley, even though the hard-working lawyer worked her butt off for her, getting Lindsay off of various crimes and violations. But Lohan’s OK with keeping her current lawyer, Mark Heller, around, even though the judge in her latest criminal case called him incompetent.
According to TMZ, Lindsay is angry the media is painting Heller as a moron, saying, “It’s all lies.” In fact, Lohan reportedly doesn’t care that Judge James Dabney called the New York-based attorney “incompetent to practice in California” and is standing by him. And even though the judge ordered her to court for the next hearing so she can explain why she’s waiving her right to a lawyer who is better versed in California laws, she is still passing. And she even turned down a free lawyer (though, really, it’s not like she pays them anyway), one her dad, Michael Lohan, offered to pay for, but she wasn’t going for that either.
Lohan’s trial is on March 18, so she has until then to swap out Heller, and tag Holley — or any other capable lawyer — in, but it seems like Lindsay’s a gambling woman, and willing to take her chances on Mark and the sorcery he could work up.
I know Lindsay’s a knucklehead and in denial about everything, but I don’t get how she thinks keeping Heller on is a good idea. The dude just wants exposure, loves to give crazy press conferences (where he’s stated that Lindsay is totally sober, she doesn’t have a problem with drugs or alcohol, and she visits autistic kids in her spare time. Really. He said all those things). Whether or not he believes it is another story. The only thing I got from his statements is that Heller is just as delusional as Lohan, and California law isn’t the only thing he knows nothing about. The dude doesn’t even know his own client.
