When I think of Julia Roberts and weddings, I envision the beautiful actress, grinning like a loon, taking off on horseback, far, far away from wherever the nuptials were supposed to take place. But this time around, Julia isn’t playing the part of runaway bride. In fact, she’s not even playing the part of bored wedding guest. Because she has no plans on attending her younger half-sister’s wedding.
The Enquirer (via Radar Online) claims Julia is boycotting sister Nancy Motes‘ wedding because she can’t stand the groom, John Dilbeck. Oh, and the actress also thinks the couple want her to pay for the wedding and she’s not having any of that.
“Julia doesn’t think much of Nancy’s husband-to-be,” an insider told the tabloid. “She’s convinced he’s sponging off Nancy, who doesn’t have much money in the first place.”
The source adds that Nancy and John moved to L.A., after Julia helped her sister get a job as a production assistant on Glee, from Georgia — where John worked at Panda Express. “Now, Julia won’t go to her wedding because she’s worried Nancy will try to tap her for more money.”
I totally believe Julia hates John but not because she thinks he wants money; I just don’t think she wants a former Panda Express employee as a brother-in-law. That’s so beneath her. And has Julia given Nancy handouts in the past? Because if the only thing Roberts did was hook her sister up with a job (and that of a glorified intern), then I’m not sure why she would assume she would be paying for the wedding. Just don’t open your chequebook, no?
Of course, The Enquirer likes to paint Julia like an evil queen (the Charlize Theron in Snow White and the Huntsman kind, not the cartoonish villain Roberts played in Mirror, Mirror), so who knows if this is even true. But this is the same sister with whom Julia got in a massive fight with after she kept making snide comments about Nancy’s weight gain. According to the tab, Julia also “exploded” when she caught Nancy taking pictures of Julia’s twins, shortly after they were born because God forbid she take photos of her niece and nephew.
So is Julia like a real-life evil queen? I’m buying, even though it’s The Enquirer that’s selling it. Unlike Gwyneth Paltrow who looks down on us little people but pretends she’s just a regular gal, I think Julia is a bitchy snob and proud of it.
