Don’t you worry about Tom Cruise being able to pick up his own dates — oh no. If his recent date night in New York City is any indication, Tommy C. is back on the prowl and he hasn’t lost his knack for getting digits. Things reportedly went so well that Cruise is already “smitten” with a 26-year-old restaurant manager named Cynthia Jorge.
In Touch makes the date sound so hot that Cruise, 50, could already be past the prowl phase and into some serious intentions regarding young Ms. Jorge. That, or they just had fantastic chemistry as dance partners.
In Touch‘s “eyewitness” talks of Cynthia (see? I just read about her and I’m already on a first-name basis!) getting swept by Tom “around the dance floor” at New York’s Le Baron nightclub — and no doubt right off her feet! Or something. Maybe she just wanted to do something hilarious to tell her friends about (dance with Tom Cruise, that is). But it sounds like all eyes were on the apparent coupling-in-progress and the participants held little back.
They salsa’d, says In Touch‘s spy, and “Tom looked like a pro.” He usually does. Inevitably, the story moves on to where “things weren’t totally G-rated. ‘At one point, they began grinding together,’” the source says with a note of trauma that I am probably imagining when I read that quote.
Why do people always end up grinding in these stories? Is that what they call it when someone leans into someone now? Or was Tom Cruise really dancing up on Cynthia Jorge? Anything is possible but I do wonder if it’d be any different if these In Touch-source types were describing, say, Olympic ice dancing.
At least Cruise’s storied date-night chivalry is still intact: He reportedly had a car waiting to whisk his date home — though whose home it was and whether he left with her is filed away (for now) under Gentlemen Don’t Tell. One thing is certain and that is the conjecture of the source’s closing quote: “It was obvious. He’s enamored of this woman.”
A little bit about the subject of Tom Cruise’s latest enchantment: as I mentioned, Cynthia Jorge is said to be 26 and originally from Queens. She is a manager at the trendy Lower East Side restaurant Beauty & Essex (yes, it sounds like a suburban English nail spa), where Cruise, there for some sort of business meal, asked for her card. Beyond that all we know is that she turned up for her date with Cruise with “her hair in a bun, [wearing] tight black pants”— and carrying a riding crop?! — and looking “gorgeous.”
Gorgeous or not, it actually sounds like she came straight from work — which, come to think of it, is rather charming.
Of course, the subtext here is that Cruise may have landed this date himself, and not with the consultation and scrutiny of Scientology’s casting department. The bit about him calling Ms. Jorge’s work and being put on hold is downright…well, it’s good PR is what it is.
Whether we see him out with her again could say a lot about Cynthia’s thetan levels or Cruise’s current standing with Scientology leader David Miscavige. Does that guy even get a say anymore?
