For the last five years, almost six, Britney Spears‘ life and career has been controlled by her father, Jamie Spears. It might sound ominous but it’s not really. After she suffered that meltdown in 2008, which resulted in her hospitalization and ex-husband Kevin Federline gaining sole physical and legal custody of their two sons, Jamie was given temporary conservatorship over Britney. Nearly six years later, the conversatorship is still happeningand it doesn’t look like it’s about to end anytime soon.

According to Radar Online, Jamie wants more money. Court documents the site obtained details his other demands.

“I continue to perform services to protect and care for Britney's person and to administer her estate in good faith and in her best interests,” Jamie wrote in a new petition that was filed on Oct. 15 in L.A. “I continue to have significant oversight duties relating to her visitation with her children.”

For these duties, Jamie is paid $16,000 a monthbut as far as he’s concerned, it isn’t enough. Jamie, who receives $1,200 each month to pay rent for his office in addition to his monthly fee, is asking for more.

According to his claims, “as my rent has steadily escalated over the last three years, I request that I be reimbursed an additional $800.00 per month for my office expense for the time period of November 1, 2012, through August 31, 2013.” That adds up to $7,200. He also requested “that I be authorized to spend the sum of $2,000 monthly, rather than the previously ordered $1,200 monthly, for my office space in a secure location that is dedicated to Britney's activities.”

Jamie states that the office is for completing Brit’s business duties, such as the recently concluded “negotiations with respect to Britney's upcoming concert series at Planet Hollywood to maximize the contractual benefits she would receive with a minimum of financial risk to her and a safe, structured, and pleasant environment.”

Radar did the math and with Jamie controlling Britney for at least two more years (she’s signed on to perform 100 shows in Vegas in 2014 and 2015), he will earn at least $432,000 more from his daughter’s estate. But the way things are going, Brit might not ever get out of the conservatorship.

Look, I get it. Running Britney Spears’ life is probably a tough jobespecially if all the claims of her mental health are true. But I am a little wary of how much Jamie really needs. Yes, managing his daughter is a full-time gig but IT’S HIS DAUGHTER. Isn’t it part of his responsibility as a father to take care of her anyway? And not need to get paid for it? Or, at least, not so handsomely? Jamie’s statement that he oversees Britney’s “visitation with her children” isn’t that just a man bringing his daughter and grand kids together? I don’t know. It just seems kind of shady, like he’s profiting off his kid and it makes me wonder if Britney truly is incapable or incompetent and can't take care of herself of it, or if Jamie knows he has a good thing and has programmed his daughter to believe she can’t. What do you think?
