For some, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr's breakup is a surprise. But for most of us, their split is about as shocking as Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth calling off their engagement last month. Orlando and Miranda began dating in 2007, wed in 2010 and had their son Flynn in 2011. But throughout that time, their marriage was plagued by infidelity rumours, they were apart for long spells, but would still go out and get pap’d every now and again to prove to the world how happy they were. And they were, at one point. Just not anymore.
“In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months,” Bloom’s rep said in a statement to E! News. “After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation.”
The statement continued, “Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.”
Going through a breakup sucks but going through one in the public eye? I can’t even imagine. According to E!, the last time the paparazzi got shots of them together was earlier this month, but since Bloom’s rep says he and Kerr have been separated for the past few months, they had to go out and pretend everything was hunky-dory. That’s natural for celebs; they want to be the ones to announce their split and not have the everyone deducing when the last time was that they were photographed together. But we’re going to do it anyway; it’s what we gossip-loving folks do.
What’s next for Orlando and Miranda, aside from co-parenting their young son? Well, Orlando’s busy with work but last year, there was talk that Miranda was flirting up a storm with Leonardo DiCaprio. Think that’ll happen? Perhaps. But Kerr is 30 so she may be too old for Leo. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess.
