Are Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas serious? One source is saying, “heck, yeah!” and believes the couple will announce their engagement before the year’s end.
There were rumours that it was going to happen earlier this month, when Harry and Cressida went on a “romantic African safari,” but that is way too similar to how Prince William popped the question to Kate in 2010, so I’m pretty sure Harry wouldn’t plan a carbon copy proposal.
“The way it’s looking now people close to Harry and Cressida predict an engagement by the end of the year and a spring wedding,” an insider told The Daily Star (via The Daily Mail). “Cressida is The One. People have heard Harry talking about how special Cress is and about getting engaged.”
The source claims that Harry took their relationship to the next level when he brought her to Africa to show her the work he does with the anti-landmine charity he patrons, the HALO Trust. It’s a cause that his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was extremely passionate about, as well as one that hits particularly close to home for the prince, an Apache helicopter pilot.
It’s rare to catch a glimpse of Harry and Cressida in the same shot as they are very deliberate about not being photographed together. (Pfft, who do they think they are — Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin?) They were reportedly seen arriving at Kings Cross Station together following the June wedding of Thomas van Straubenzee and Lady Melissa Percy but the photographic evidence was too pricey for my liking. If Harry and Cressida do get engaged, though, it will be like Snuffleupagus and Polkaroo getting together.
Harry and Cressida have been dating on and off for just over a year, though they spent a lot of that time apart. They were reportedly on a bit of a break during his Vegas strip billiards trip, plus he was on his tour of duty in Afghanistan for four months, so while they may seem in love, they haven’t really been a couple all that long. Bonas is Harry’s longest girlfriend since Chelsy Davy, whom he dated for seven years. Kate had to wait nine years for William to ask her to marry him. I think if Cressida is getting a proposal, she still has to bide her time before that even comes close to happening. And I think that’s fine by her.
