If only Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson reunited

Now there's a fairytale ending we'd like to see.

They may have divorced in 1996 (after a four-year separation), but the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York have always managed to stay friendly for the sake of their children. Prince Andrew didn’t have to keep things civil. Sure, they may have drifted apart but she wasn’t exactly careful while off gallivanting with other dudes and being photographed getting her toes sucked. Shudder.

But have they drifted back into each other’s lives? Friends believe Andrew and Sarah have rekindled their romance.

“Mark my words, they will remarry,” one friend told The Telegraph. “It is only a matter of time.” Another pal added: “It wouldn’t surprise me at all. They are a wonderful couple together and, better still, pretty amazing parents.”

Andrew and Sarah have never remarried (heck, neither have been in a serious relationship) and they still remain so close, so it wouldn’t be shocking if they did get back together. They both live at Royal Lodge in Berkshire, the former country home of Queen Elizabeth and they even spent a weekend at Balmoral, Her Majesty’s Scottish retreat, earlier this month. It marked the first time she was invited back to the castle since they were married.

In 1991, Sarah said in an interview, “There was no reason for Andrew and I to get divorced; there wasn’t another person in our lives to go to. We got divorced because I had to go out to work, and Andrew and I believed that it wasn’t right for me to be commercial while I was still in the Royal family. I had to provide for my children, but not do it on their own doorstep in this country, rubbing the Royal family’s noses in my commerciality.”

The Telegraph pointed out that 10 years after Fergie’s interview, Andrew also didn’t rule out remarrying his ex. “Do we have to be married?” he asked. “Well, let’s put it another way, I can neither confirm nor deny the possibility. We have two great children. We still look after them.”

Prince Andrew has never criticized Ferguson and has provided financial support as needed. While a spokesman for Sarah denied the report, he told Hello! Online, “They continue to be joint parents and best friends and try to set the best example for the girls.”

So it doesn’t seem like the two are officially getting back together but I wouldn’t rule it out either. Considering the close quarters, perhaps they’re even friendly exes with benefits. It might confuse their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, or more likely, the women are already on to them and will probably just roll their eyes. I can see Andrew and Fergie together again, but maybe I’m just hopeful because it would make for great gossip. The Queen may have allowed Sarah back in the palace but would she be OK with the two reuniting? I doubt it.
