It looks like Lady Gaga is pretty keen on her new single “Applause” going No. 1 on Billboard. Gaga is so committed to topping the charts with her (critically mediocre) new song, that she appears to be bribing her fans into buying multiple copies of the song and harassing radio stations in order to get her to the Billboard promise land.
The Lady tweeted out to the world that she will be choosing her two most devoted fans that tweet out their multiple iTunes proof of “Applause” song purchases to attend a European music festival date with her.
“Screenshot your ‘Applause’ purchase @ladygaga request to radio, & hashtag #Applause we’ll choose 2 devoted fans to go WITH me to ITunes fest!…The 2 fans w the most purchase/gift screenshots, radio requests, ‘Applause’ selfies/video, will fly international to meet me+watch the show!”
Some Gaga fans were immediately offended with Mother Monster’s request, stating that the contest is forcing their fellow “monsters” to shell out a ton of cash, and that only rich kids will benefit.
Gaga quickly took to Twitter to do some damage control.
Gaga’s single, which has been panned by various music blogs for being average, does need some help. It currently sits at No. 3 on the iTunes music charts behind Katy Perry’s new song “Roar” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”
Do you think Gaga’s request to her monsters is unreasonable?
