Pity the fool who thinks award season is over once the Oscars have wrapped. Though 2012 seems like an afterthought, we still have one more big prize night coming: the MTV Movie Awards. Unlike the Oscars—or most film prizes—these awards are decided by the public via online votes, which always makes for a different take on what deserves honouring.

In past years, awards have being given out to “Best Sandwiches in a Movie” (the ham and cheese meal in Smoke took the prize in 1996), but this year the categories have taken a more traditional route. (With the exception of “Best Scared-as-S**t Performance” and “Best WTF Moment.”) The nominees were announced this week, seeing Django Unchained and Ted tie for the highest number of nods with seven each. Silver Linings Playbook came in second with six and The Dark Knight Rises (completely shut out at the Oscars) earned five.

The golden popcorn awards will be given out on April 14 on MTV. Full list of nominees below.
