WATCH: Harlem residents hate the ‘Harlem Shake’

The people of Harlem are not too pleased about people using their city's namesake in vain.

Take a seat Psy, you’re like so yesterday’s news. We all know that the latest Internet viral music video craze is the “Harlem Shake.”

The meme, which started off as a song by some electronic DJ dude called Baauer and a video by comedian Filthy Frank, has garnered countless (literally way too many) parodies of people mimicking the dance party shake-down on YouTube. You pick the scenario, there is a “Harlem Shake” waiting for visual consumption. But just because the world loves it, doesn’t necessarily mean the people of Harlem will. In fact, they seem to hate it!

In recent video post, the folks at Schlepp Films hit the streets of Harlem, New York to chat with local residents and get their reaction to the dance craze. The reaction wasn’t love, rather a whole lotta…well, check it out for yourself below.

Let’s just say that if you plan on visiting Harlem, do not do the ‘Harlem Shake.’
