“Hey Faith Hill, get outta the way, ya hear!” Yup, Sunday Night Football has a new country superstar taking over its theme song duties, and the honour belongs to Carrie Underwood.

It was just announced that Carrie Underwood is officially taking over the role as singer for NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcast, who have decided to stick with their seven year trend of having a female country star fill the spot.

In all fairness, it was Faith Hill’s decision to step out of football-themed gig when she announced last month that she wouldn’t be returning for another season.

Underwood’s take on the Sunday Night Football theme will be a re-working of her track ”Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”

When speaking about her new hog skin gig, Underwood said:

“For me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do. To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it’s something that’s so cool.”
