As if Lost Girl’s Fae-tastic lead, Bo (Anna Silk), didn’t already have enough to worry about, there’s a sultry new distraction headed her way in the form of Rachel Skarsten’s Tamsin. The recurring Season 3 character makes her big, badass debut in this Sunday’s episode and from the sounds of it, girl’s going to raise some serious hell, not to mention more than a few eyebrows.

TV Guide Canada spoke with Skarsten on the set of Lost Girl over the summer and the Toronto-born actress, previously seen on Birds of Prey and Flashpoint, revealed that Tamsin serves as a somewhat of a new Fae foe for our poor Bo.

“It’s safe to say that we start out not liking each other very much,” Skarsten explained. “That [relationship] obviously evolves, but it walks a very fine line between a real respect and real distain for one another”

She continued, “Tamsin plays into Bo’s specific journey [in Season 3], and there’s all this extra stuff that Tamsin brings in that Bo will have to contend with and deal with.”

Could some of this “extra stuff” be sexual tension? Quite possibly, Skarsten says. After all, she does have multiple kissing scenes on Season 3, some of which are same-sex.

“When I first started the show, [the producers] were like, ‘Now, are you OK with kissing a girl?’” Skarsten says. “And I was like, ‘Well, yeah! I think it’s easier to kiss a girl than to kiss a guy.’ And it turns out it is!”

She wouldn’t say who precisely, but Skarsten swears Tamsin locks lips with at least two of Lost Girl’s main cast members over the course of Season 3.

“Tamsin is innately sexual,” Skarsten explains. “But it’s a very strong, independent sexuality.”

Although Tamsin will put up a hard, in-your-face front in the beginning, expect her to reveal some inner demons as the season progresses.

So says Skarsten, “There’s this whole other side to [Tamsin] and her past that you start to see. Really devious things in her past that are coming back to haunt her or that she’s now accountable for.”

Sounds like Tamsin will be right at home in the ever-troubled Lost Girl universe. But what about Skarsten? According to series star Silk, she’s a welcome addition to Showcase’s Scooby team.

“She’s a very cool person,” Silk tells TV Guide Canada. “She’s really fun to work with, and I hope she comes back if we come back!”

Silk continues, “Tamsin adds a really good dynamic to the show. She’s a challenging character for Bo. Kind of an equal.”

Skarsten’s first episode of Lost Girl airs Sunday, Jan. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on Showcase.
