Super Channel is rounding out quite the award-winning cast for its new original series, Forgive Me. The Canadian pay television channel has announced that Academy Award-winner Olympia Dukakis and stage veteran Jane Alexander have joined the upcoming show in guest starring roles.
Other stars who are set to appear on the new homegrown series include Oscar winner Brenda Fricker (My Left Foot), Hugh Thompson (Flashpoint) Jeremy Akerman (Hobo with a Shotgun) and Brian MacQuarrie (Roller town). The actors join previously announced series regulars, newcomer Mike Mcleod and Haven’s John Dunsworth.
“It’s a testament to [Thom Fitzgerald’s] talent that renowned actors from his films are so enthusiastic to work with him again on Forgive Me,” Super Channel’s Marguerite Pigott said in a statement.
“The quality of his relationships with actors has allowed him to surpass our expectations regarding casting and we are thrilled.”
Series writer, director and producer Thom Fitzgerald (The Wild Dogs) says Forgive Me “looks at the challenge people face trying to reconcile religious faith with the real problems of today’s technological, boundary-free society.” The show stars Mcleod as a fresh-faced priest who has his fair share of secrets.
Production is already underway in Halifax for the 12-episode series. The half-hour drama, which marks Fitzgerald’s series television debut, is set to premiere on Canada’s Super Channel during the spring of 2013.
