New Girl fans: get ready for more Russell. Dermot Mulroney is heading back to the Fox hit this season to reprise his role as Jess’s slightly older ex boyfriend.

The last time we saw Russell (a businessman who doubled as the father of one of Jess’s students) he and Jess had broken up because she thought their relationship lacked passion. Mulroney, who’s known for his roles in movies like My Best Friend’s Wedding, is currently recurring on HBO’s Enlightened. E! News reports that this time around, Jess will bump into her ex (Mulroney) at “a most inopportune time.” Running into people at “inopportune” times seems to happen a lot to poor Jess. The website claims Mulroney will make his return to the show in an April instalment called “First Date.”

New Girl’s Season 2 has featured an impressive roster of guest stars so far, including stints from Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies), Rob Reiner (All in the Family), Olivia Munn (The Newsroom), Parker Posey (Louie) and David Walton, who’s recurring as Sam this season. There are more guest stars heading to the Zooey Deschanel starrer this year; as TV Guide Canada reported earlier this month, the gang will meet the rest of Nick’s family when they head over to Chicago in an upcoming March episode. Justified’s Margo Martindale will play his mom in the instalment, which will also feature guest appearances from Nick Kroll (The League), Bill Burr (Breaking Bad) and Ellen Albertini Dow (The Golden Girls).

Fans who watch the show know that a lot has changed in Jess’s life since she and Russell split up. The queen of quirkiness dated another guy (Sam) and finally kissed Nick after many “Will they? Won’t they?” episodes. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how she reacts to seeing her ex.

New Girl airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on City/Fox.
