There’s so much new life coming to Drop Dead Diva these days! Earlier this week, the previously-cancelled series was renewed by Lifetime after initially being cancelled. Now, one of the stars is having a baby.
Kate Levering, who plays Kim Kaswell on DDD, tells People that she is currently expecting her first ever-child. The father is fiancé Reza Jahangiri.
“It’s something both of us have wanted for quite some time now,” the actress tells the magazine. ““Reza and I are over the moon to be embarking on this next chapter together,”
Levering has been with DDD since the pilot back in 2009 and will, presumably, continue with the show this season. Since DDD‘s renewal is just fresh and thus, shooting for Season 5 has presumably not commenced, it’s unclear whether her pregnancy could affect her involvement with the show. But, if Levering gets her way, it will become its own storyline.
“I hope the writers take full advantage of the hilarities of pregnancy,” she tells People.” It’s going to be nice to not have to hide my big belly and have my pregnancy documented in this kind of way.”
At this moment though, it appears that Levering is just focusing on prepping to be a new mom and planning her upcoming wedding. She and Jahangiri are planning to tie the knot in Newport Beach, Calif., in April.
Aside from Drop Dead Diva, Levering has had recurring roles on Cashmere Mafia and Kevin Hill. She has also made one-episode appearances on major shows likes NCIS: Los Angeles and CSI: Miami.
Drop Dead Diva has previously aired on Slice in Canada. It’s produced by Lifetime in the States.
