HBO fans ought to be out for blood today. True Blood.
In between all the chocolate and eggs, HBO gave out its first vial of True Blood Season 6 goodness this Easter weekend. That is, they released the premiere teaser trailer for the upcoming set of episodes, hinting to what looks to be the show’s most doomed season — storyline wise, anyway! — yet.
This first clip (seen below) is quickly cut, revealing very little in terms of plot. But some of the quotes spoken by the main characters are quite telling, including an ominous voice stating that “It’s the beginning of the end,” and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) declaring “If the humans want war, we’ll give them war.”
From the looks of things, it appears that Season 6 will pick up right after the events of the Season 5 finale, which saw a blood-soaked Bill (Stephen Moyer) give himself over to the vampire god Lilith at the Vampire Authority underground headquarters. At one point in the new teaser, Sookie (Anna Paquin) asks, “Is that Bill?” Jessica’s (Deborah Ann Woll) answer: “Not anymore.”
Aside from Sook, Jess, Bill and Eric, other Bon Temps staples that appear, ever so slightly, in the trailer include Alcide (Joe Manganiello), Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten). We also see a creepy, Rob Zombie-looking figure at one point. Could this so-called “tyrant” be Season 6′s Big Bad? Or will he face off against the real villain, Bill himself?
Also, what is with that Alien-evoking music setting the scene? Will this year’s supernatural addition be from, dare we say it, outer space? Stranger things have happened on this show (see: Sook’s whole faerie backstory) and with a possible apocalypse looming, you know all hell, Earthly and otherwise, is going to break loose.
Whatever the case, we’ll get more precise answers when True Blood returns to HBO and HBO Canada Sunday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
