Holy blank! Match Game is coming back.
The Comedy Network announced Wednesday that the retro-classic game show will return for a 60-episode second season.
“It’s exciting to see Match Game … catch fire with viewers across the country,” Catherine MacLeod, vice-president of specialty channels for Bell Media, said in a press release. “We look forward to delivering 60 more episodes of the hijinks and hilarity that have become the hallmark of this retro-comedy classic.”
Stand-up comedian — and recurring Mr. D star — Darrin Rose returns as Match Game‘s host, as do regular panelists Seán Cullen and Debra DiGiovanni.
Season 2 will start production in the Toronto area this summer with a fall broadcast return date in mind.
Each episode of Match Game has competitors fill in the blanks on phrases against comedians; each match increases cash winnings on the way to a final large pot of money.
The Comedy Network says more than nine million Canadians have tuned in to Match Game since its Oct. 15, 2012, debut with around two million checking out daily repeats on the channel.
Match Game reruns air Monday to Friday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The Comedy Network.
