It’s a sad day for the citizens of the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park: rest in peace Philadelphia (Phil) Collins.
News outlets reported Tuesday that Richard Collins, best-known for his portrayal of Philadelphia (Phil) Collins on Showcase’s Trailer Park Boys passed away. His age and the circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.
“Sad news, Richard Collins has passed away, he played Phil on TPB. His family asks for privacy at this time. Richard wanted to go quietly,” wrote Trailer Park Boys co-creator Mike Clattenburg on Twitter.
“Another shocking and sad day with the loss of another one of our TPB family,” wrote co-star Robb Wells on the social media site. “My heart and thoughts go out to the Collins family at this time.”
Shot in and around Halifax, Trailer Park Boys starred Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith as Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, three miscreants who lived in a trailer park and looked to booze, drugs and practical jokes to pass the time. The ribald series, which also starred John Dunsworth, Patrick Roach, Lucy Decoutere, Sarah Dunsworth and Jonathon Torrens, aired for seven seasons on television.
Collins appeared in the television series as well as three Trailer Park Boys feature films.
