Jersey Shore‘s resident gorilla, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, has stones. And we don’t mean gall.
According to US Weekly, the 27-year-old MTV reality star was hospitalized this past Saturday with kidney stones, meaning he’ll have to put the fist-pumping and GTL’ing on hold for the foreseeable future. (Oh no, the horror!)
Ortiz-Magro was in Florida promoting his new Smush Cocktails line at the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America Convention when he came down with the affliction.
“Fkin love Florida!!” the star tweeted Saturday afternoon alongside an Instagram of the beautiful, blue sky above him. (And yes, he used a filter! It’s Instagram law to do so, don’t you know.)
Sometime between then and midnight, Ortiz-Magro ended up in an Orlando-area hospital. Just after 10 a.m. Sunday, he issued an update on his condition to fans, tweeting out, “Wouldn’t wish this feeling on anyone! #KidneysFML.”
In tweets to well-wishers, Ortiz-Magro revealed that he was also suffering from a kidney infection, likely brought about by the presence of the aforementioned stones, and couldn’t keep any food down. Apparently, he’s upped his protein intake to deal with the latter.
“He’s in a lot of pain and is expected to remain [in hospital] for several days,” Ortiz-Magro’s rep told People.
Apparently, Ortiz-Magro’s Jersey Shore co-star and longtime on-and-off girlfriend, Sammi Giancola, is at his bedside. It’s unlikely the two will be doing any smushing beyond the cocktail variety for at least a little while.
