The Blecher clan is saying goodbye. Home-grown comedy cable series Less Than Kind has set its final season debut date on HBO Canada.
“We are so happy to bring the Blechers back for the fourth and concluding chapter of Less Than Kind,” executive producer, writer and showrunner Mark McKinney said in a Thursday press release. “The series has been blessed by an amazing cast that only grew stronger and funnier each season. This season’s storyline brings their characters’ journeys to a very satisfying finish. And we are thrilled to be bringing it to HBO Canada where so many great original Canadian shows have thrived.”
The Gemini Award winner returns Sunday, June 2, at 8 p.m. ET/MT, with two back-to-back episodes as Anne (Wendel Meldrum) deals with the loss of youngest son Sheldon (Jesse Camacho), who is taking a gap-year adventure before deciding if he’ll go to college or university. Meanwhile, her newly-engaged eldest son Josh (Benjamin Archer) is looking to move out of the house and start his own family with Shandra (Lisa Anne Durupt).
The Movie Network and Movie Central are offering a sneak peek of the first episode; beginning May 19, fans can check it out by visiting hbocanada.com.
The network notes that the music of Bruce Cockburn, Imaginary Cities, Jon Bryant and Gloryhound will be featured throughout the season.
Less Than Kind has captured a raft of awards, including nods by the Writers Guild of Canada, Canadian Screen Awards and Canadian Comedy Awards. The comedy is written and executive-produced by Marvin Kaye and Chris Sheasgreen and was based on Kaye’s semi-autobiographical one-act play They Have Mayonnaise in Montreal.
