Things continue to look good for Canadian series Continuum. Halfway through its second season on Showcase (and guest star Hugh Dillon), Shaw announced Wednesday that the series has been renewed for a third season.
The announcement came at the broadcaster’s annual upfront presentation in Toronto, where Shaw stars Jessalyn Gilsig (Vikings), Blair Underwood (Ironside) and Queen Latifah (The Queen Latifah Show) pumped up the 2013-14 television schedule.
“Thanks everyone for all the #Continuum S3 pickup love,” creator Simon Barry wrote on Twitter Wednesday. “Can’t wait to get started.”
Continuum‘s renewal is a no-brainer. The series shattered Showcase records in Canada when it debuted in 2012, and continues to be a strong performer for the specialty station. On U.S.’s SyFy, it ranked No. 6 in the adult 25-54 key demo, and No. 10 with adults 18-49 among cable programs.
The second season of Continuum bows this Friday on SyFy.
Last Sunday, Canadian Continuum fans were introduced to Hugh Dillon (Flashpoint), who appeared in the first of several upcoming episodes as Mr. Escher, a Vancouver businessman who hinted to time-travelling cop Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) that he knows her secrets and may in fact be from the same future that she is.
Production on Season 2 wrapped Thursday in Vancouver.
Continuum airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Showcase.
