American Idol is in the midst of its cross-country auditions for Season 13, but producers are still trying to nail down their all-star judging panel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers are in talks to bring back Jennifer Lopez, who was on the dias next to Randy Jackson in 2011 and 2012. But while talks between Lopez’s people and producers initially went well, they’ve stalled over how much the diva wants to be paid.
Word is Lopez was given $15 million per season to participate, while her successor, Mariah Carey, was given $18 million for her time on the singing program. Lopez is seeking a hefty raise.
Meanwhile, other names on the judging list include Idol finalist-Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, Idol finalist Adam Lambert, Black Eyed Peas leader will.i.am and record producer Dr. Luke.
Keith Urban is expected to return.
American Idol has gone through huge changes since its May season finale. Longtime executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick were shown the door, replaced by Swedish Idol boss Per Blankens, who — along with new producers Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager — are looking for A-list talent to fill the seats left vacant by Randy Jackson, Carey and Nicki Minaj.
American Idol returns to CTV and Fox at midseason.
