McKinley High will have to find another school counselor; Jayma Mays has announced Season 5 of Glee will be her last.
“This is going to be my last season,” the petite redhead confirmed to Access Hollywood while attending the opening of Smurfs 2 over the weekend. “I’m finishing up this season, so I’m not sure what direction and who’s coming on and who’s not.”
It was recently revealed that Mays has joined the cast of Will Arnett’s CBS sitcom, The Millers, where she’ll play the sister to Arnett’s lead character.
Glee‘s Season 4 finale saw neurotic Emma Pillsbury (Mays) marry teacher and glee club leader Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison).
Mays is the latest regular cast member to announce they are exiting the series. Mark Salling (Puck), Heather Morris (Brittany), Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) will not be back.
Meanwhile, Glee‘s cast, crew and producers held a private memorial last Thursday for late co-star Cory Monteith, who died earlier this month from an overdose of alcohol and heroin in a Vancouver hotel. Those in attendance shared memories of Monteith’s life.
Glee returns on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m. ET on Global/Fox.
