There is a type of makeup many of us are either applying incorrectly or not using altogether.

What is it? Surprisingly, it’s blush!

But if you think about it, blush isn’t as much of a staple as it used to be in the ’80s. And thank goodness for that. But the product does have a place in our more subdued modern society.

Many women just use bronzer to contour their cheekbones. And while there is nothing wrong with that, your look can be further enhanced with just two swipes of a brush.

Sounds easy, right? Well to avoid looking like you’re going to prom 25 years ago, we have some tips for you.

The Loop makeup expert Eden Bluestein shows you how:

Now that you know how to apply blush and look beautiful, you should figure out what kind of blush you want to use.

In the fall and winter, opt for pinker hues. Your cheeks will naturally be a bit rosy from the cold, so embrace it.

In the spring you can start moving away from deep pinks towards more bright colours. Depending on your skin tone, you can even go for something in the coral family.

I always buy my blushes at Mac, but I have bought Rimmel in a pinch and was happy with it, too.
